Did You Know a new Display Option lets you show part descriptions in the Add to Cart pop-up modals?

Turn on the portal-level Display Option “Checkout.PartDescription” to include the product description in the pop-up modal that appears when users click “Add to Cart”.

The flow for adding a static part to the cart is to first click the “Add to Cart” button on the browse page and then to input a quantity and hit the final “Add to Cart” button. This Add to Cart pop-up modal normally displays the image preview of the product, a field to input the quantity to add, and the “Add to Cart” button.

“Checkout.PartDescription” is a Display Option that is hidden by default.

Benefits to the Client

  • Add another area to include the descriptions for products along the ordering process.
  • Ensure users see the descriptions for static parts without them needing to click to view a part’s details.

How It Works

“Checkout.PartDescription” is a portal-level Display Option, so it can be made visible via the Display Options page in the back-end:

  1. In the back-end, go to Portals / Select a Customer / Display Options.
  2. Select the Checkout.PartDescription option in the Currently Hidden column.
  3. Click the left arrow button to move Checkout.PartDescription over to the Currently Visible column.
  4. Click Save.
