Did You Know you can add Inclusion and Exclusion tags to Calendar layers?

We recently expanded support of inclusion/exclusion tags to areas of the platform beyond product browse pages. These tags can now be used in both the DAM library (see this Did You Know) and in the front-end Calendar.

The same inclusion and exclusion tags created for use with parts can also be applied to Calendar layers. Front-end admins can add these tags to Calendar layers to control who can see the layer in a more granular and targeted way than with User Groups.

Benefits to the Client

  • Utilize inclusion and exclusion tags that have already been created and assigned to control Calendar layer visibility.
  • Use Inclusion tags to layers to give specific users access to a Calendar layer even if they are not in a user group that has been added to the layer.
  • Use Exclusion tags to restrict viewing of a layer from specific users even if they are in a user group that has been added to the layer.

How It Works

To add inclusion and/or exclusion tags to a Calendar:

  • On the front end, go to Tools / Calendar.
  • Click Manage Layers.
  • Click the name of the layer you want to add tags to in the Manage Layers column.
  • Use the Inclusion Tags and Exclusion Tags fields to add tags of the corresponding type.
    • You can click into the field to show a dropdown list of available inclusion/exclusion tags.
    • You can start typing into these fields to narrow down the list of tags and find the tag you are looking for.
  • Click Save.

Note: In order to manage Calendar layers, a front-end admin must have Calendar Admin rights.
