Did You Know there is a setting to alert users when an item in their cart is already in an open order?

Notify Already On Order is a new portal-level setting that will alert users if they have an open order that contains a product in their current cart.

After a user clicks Checkout, the system will cross reference the user’s open orders (not all open orders). If a part in the cart is also in an open order (any status other than Canceled, Closed, Denied), they will see an alert that looks like this:

Note that users can continue with the order by clicking Checkout. They can also click the Open Orders button to go to the details page for the open order.

Benefits to the Client

  • Give users a useful notice about parts in their cart that are in already open orders.
  • Prevent accidental re-ordering of products that a user has already ordered but not received.
  • Users can quickly get information about open orders that contain parts in their cart such as when the orders were placed and how much was ordered.

How It Works

To turn on Notify Already On Order:

  • In the back end, go to Portals / Select a Customer / Settings.
  • Find the Configure Alerts section.
  • Set the Notify Already On Order option to “Yes”.
  • Save.
