Did You Know Dynamic Groups can be created to allow users to switch between user groups?
A Dynamic Group is a set of User Groups that are linked to allow users to switch between them. Dynamic Groups can be used so that users can switch languages but maintain their payment options and other settings, for example.
To do this, you could create two User Groups with identical settings except for their screen definitions, then create a Dynamic Group linking those two User Groups to allow users to essentially choose a language upon logging in to the portal.
Benefits to the Client
- Link two or more User Groups to allow users to change settings.
- Ask users to choose a User Group upon logging in and give them the ability to switch User Groups.
- Give users the option to have the system remember their choice of User Group.
How It Works
You can create Dynamic Groups in the portal details page in the back end. Find the Dynamic Groups tab on the left-hand menu: Portals > Select Portal > Dynamic Groups.
- Select Add Dynamic Group.
- Check the box next to the User Groups you want to link together.
- Click Save Dynamic Group.
- Use Edit button to change the Dynamic Group or the Delete button to remove it.
All users in a User Group that is a part of a Dynamic Group will be asked upon logging in to the portal to choose which group to log in as. At the bottom of the User Group choice page there is a checkbox which allows the user to skip this initial selection page and remember their User Group choice.
Once logged in, a user in a Dynamic Group can use the dropdown at the top of the page to switch between the User Groups in the Dynamic Group.
