Did You Know you can add Inclusion and Exclusion tags to DAM assets and folders?
The Inclusion and Exclusion Tag system is a powerful tool for controlling view rights more granularly and flexibly. Here is a basic description of how Inclusion and Exclusion tags work:
- A part with an Inclusion Tag will ONLY be shown to users with that same tag.
- A part with an Exclusion Tag will NOT be shown to users with that same tag.
Support for Inclusion and Exclusion Tags has been added to the Digital Asset Management module. Users with either Edit permissions or System Admin status via their DAM role can add and remove Inclusion Tags and Exclusion Tags from digital assets and digital asset folders.
The Inclusion and Exclusion Tags that have been created in the back-end for use with parts carry over to the DAM so users can select from these tags in the dropdown lists.

Benefits to the Client
- Control viewing rights for DAM assets with a tagging system.
- Use Inclusion/Exclusion tags on both individual assets and folders.
- Inclusion/Exclusion tags are enforced for view and search results in the DAM
How It Works
The ability to manage Inclusion/Exclusion tags on DAM assets and folders is determined by DAM Access Roles. Users with System Admin rights can add Inclusion/Exclusion tags to any digital asset or folder within the DAM. Users with Edit permissions for a DAM folder can add Inclusion/Exclusion tags to assets within that folder. Learn more about DAM Access Roles.
To add an Inclusion or Exclusion tag to a digital asset:
- On the front end, go to Digital Assets.
- Open a folder and click the name of an asset to pull up its details.
- Click the Inclusion Tags or Exclusion Tags field and either type in tags or select them from the dropdown of available tags.
- Click the save icon to the right of the field.
- Click the “x” icon on a tag to remove it.
As a System Admin, you can add Inclusion/Exclusion tags to DAM folders by:
- On the front end, go to Admin / Digital Asset / Access Group Details.
- Click the name of a folder in the left-hand column.
- Use the Inclusion and Exclusion tag fields to add or remove tags to the folder.
