Did You Know you can enable preflight on upload parts and enforce price per page?

marketing portals web to print

Preflighting enables you to enforce size and page count restrictions on PDF uploads and charge users per page of their uploaded PDF.

Preflight is a part-level setting for parts that allow user uploads. Using the preflight settings, you can enforce the following requirements on PDF uploads:

  • Price Per Page – If enabled, the price of the part will be multiplied by the total page count in the cart.
  • Page Count Multiple – If set to more than 1, PDF uploads must have a page count of some multiple of this input. (i.e. if set to 4, page count must be 4 or 8 or 12, etc.)
  • Min and Max Page Count
  • Min and Max Page Width (inches)
  • Min and Max Page Height (inches)

With Preflight turned on, the user will see an info grid on the upload page that gives them the requirements for the part. If the user uploads a PDF that does not meet the requirements, they will not be able to add to the cart and the info grid will display why.

On the product browse page, upload parts with the Price Per Page set will show, for example, $1.00 Page instead of $1.00 ea.

Benefits to the You

  • Ensure end-user PDF uploads meet the needed specifications for page count, size, and page multiples.
  • Charge users for PDF uploads per page.
  • Offer clients a new upload part option, enabling preflight on PDFs and ensuring end-user uploads meet their specifications.

How It Works

Preflighting is a part-level setting that can be found in the Upload Options section of the part details page. To enable preflighting on a part:

  1. In the back end, go to Part / Parts / Select a part.
  2. On the Basic Information page, find the setting called Enable Preflight in the Upload Options section.
  3. Set to “Yes”.
  4. If you want to charge a price per page, set Price Per Page to “Yes”. This will cause the price of the upload part as set in the Pricing page to be multiplied by the page count of the user’s upload once added to the cart.
  5. Use the Min and Max fields to set the preflight requirements. Any field left blank will not enforce a requirement for that specification. (i.e. if Min Page Count is 4 but Max Page Count is blank, then uploads will need to be at least 4 pages but not have an upper limit.)
  6. Click Save.
