Did You Know front-end admins can add user group data to bulk user imports?

web print storefront portal

Front-end admins have several bulk import tools at their disposal. These include the ability to export and import user data, addresses, and global profiles.

Read more about these bulk import tools here: Did You Know you can bulk import and export data to and from your portal?

The user import tool now includes a column for the user group, allowing front-end admins to specify the user group for new users within a bulk import.

This feature also makes it possible to change the user group of many users at once using the front-end user import tool.

Note: User groups can not be created using the bulk user import feature. If the import sheet has a user group item filled in that does not correspond to an already existing user group, the import will not go through.

Benefits to the Client

  • Designate user groups to users when importing through the bulk user import tool.
  • Update or change the user groups of users when importing a user list.
  • See user group information in the exported user list.

How It Works

When front-end admins export the user list via the User Management page, they will see a User Group column on the list. This column can be used to update or change user groups and designate user groups for new users to be imported.

To import a list of users from the front-end:

  1. Go to Admin / Users.
  2. Click Export to update the current list of users.
  3. Add entries to the user list and use the User Group column to add user group designations.
  4. Click Import.
  5. Drag the user list file or browse to select the file for upload.
  6. The pop-up modal will give an upload summary.
  7. If there are entries in the user group column that do not correspond to an existing user group, the upload summary will note this.
  8. Click Continue when ready to complete the upload.
