Did You Know: Defining Quantity Available versus Quantity On-Hand

marketing portal web to print

Qty Available and Qty On-Hand are inventory metrics with important distinctions in the Propago Platform. Here’s a quick breakdown of those differences.

Qty On-Hand is the physical amount of inventory sitting in your warehouse at any given time. This number does not change until orders are shipped or inventory is adjusted.

Qty Available is Qty On-Hand minus Open Order Qty. Essentially when an order for a product is placed and released the Qty Available for that product is decremented.

Qty On-Hand can never be below 0, whereas Qty Available can be negative depending on the current inventory levels and order demand.

Backorders

The features to block backorders and in-stock notifications will look at Qty Available numbers to determine if at any given time a potential order would push demand negative.
