Did You Know user-level Custom Fields can be used for reporting and proofing?
User profiles have three custom fields that you can use as needed for reporting and soft proofing. Just like with the order checkout custom fields (see that Did You Know here), you can use user-level Custom Fields to track anything not covered in the standard fields.
For example, if there is a need to report on users that are associated with a specific internal region code, this information can be included in one of these fields. You can then filter users as needed in reports using this field.
Also, you can set up personalized parts to auto-fill data from these fields when users are proofing. Continuing the example above, you can have a business card auto-fill a region field by pulling from the user’s custom field.
Benefits to the Client
- Add additional data points to user profiles as needed.
- Filter users by data in custom fields in reports.
- Auto-fill personalized parts with data from custom fields.
How It Works
User-level custom fields can be edited in the back end and front end. To edit a user’s custom fields in the back end:
- Go to Portals / Select a Customer / Users / Select a User.
- Find the Custom Fields section on the Basic Information page.
- Fill in Custom 01, Custom 02, and Custom 03 as needed.
- Click Save.
Users with front end admin privileges can edit user custom fields:
- Go to Admin / Users / Select a User.
- Find the Other Information section.
- Fill in Custom 01, Custom 02, and Custom 03 as needed.
- Click Save.
