Did You Know there are new options for creating portal redirect links?
Redirect links make it possible to share a URL that will take the user straight to a particular product or category on the storefront. We have added a new type of redirect link that will take a user straight to a search page with a specific keyword query.
We have also created a new alternative query string format to make it easier to create redirect links. The old format will still work as usual and there are no functional differences between them.
Redirect links can be used regardless of the login method enabled for a storefront, including open storefronts, storefronts with self registration enabled, as well as SAML logins. For storefronts that require the user to login manually, when they click a redirect link they will hit the login page first. After logging in, they will be taken directly to the product, category, or search query specified in the URL.
The query strings used to create redirect links are:
Product Redirect: Original Format
Sku=”SKU”
Product Redirect: Alternative Format
Next=Sku:”SKU”
Category Redirect: Original Format
ReturnURL=/Store/Category/”Category ID”/”Part Category Name”
Category Redirect: Alternative Format
Next=Category:”Category ID”:”Part Category Name”
Search Redirect:
Next=Search:”Search Query”
You can find the ID for a part category by navigating to that category on the front end. In the URL, the string of numbers after “Category:” is the category ID.
Benefits to the Client
- Create redirect links that will take users directly to specific products, categories, or search queries.
- Use redirect links regardless of the login method set up for your storefront.
- Use redirect links in conjunction with open storefronts to share links with members outside of your organization.
How It Works
You can create a redirect link by adding a “?” plus one of the query strings outlined above to the end of your portal URL. Make sure to remove the quotation marks and replace the characters in quotations with the specific part SKU, part category, or search query you want to link to.
For example, here is a redirect link:
https://portal.mypropago.com/Login/JustforKicks?Next=Sku:JFK-24986203
It is composed of the portal URL:
https://portal.mypropago.com/Login/JustforKicks
And a question mark followed by the redirect query string:
?Next=Sku:JFK-24986203
