Did You Know you can set a limit on how far out a Fixed Asset can be booked?
We have added a new optional setting to Fixed Assets that allows you to set an upper limit to number of days ahead of the current date that a user can book an asset for.
“Fixed Asset Max Days Out” is an optional setting found in Fixed Asset Options that will prevent users from choosing a START day for an asset booking further ahead than the chosen number of days.
For example, if “Max Days Out” is set to 14 for a particular Fixed Asset and a user goes to book that asset on the 1st of the month, they will not be able to choose a start day later than the 15th, regardless of availability.
Benefits to You
- Make Fixed Asset scheduling more predictable by setting a hard cap on how far out in advance users can book an asset.
- Use “Max Days Out” in conjunction with the buffer day settings to adjust the availability of fixed assets to match your operational capacity.
- Make usage of Fixed Assets more efficient when assets are limited by preventing users from booking assets too far in advance.
How It Works
“Max Days Out” is a setting found in the Fixed Asset Options section of a Fixed Asset’s part page. To use “Max Days Out”:
- In the back end, go to Part / Fixed Assets / Select a Fixed Asset.
- On the Basic Information page, find the Fixed Asset Options section below the Workflow Options section.
- Input a number in the “Fixed Asset Max Days Out” field.
- Click Save.
The number in this field will be used to limit how far in advance users can book this Fixed Asset. Two things to note:
- This setting limits the “Start” day when booking. All days greater than “blank” days ahead of the current date will be unavailable to choose as a start date.
- This “Max Days Out” limit will apply in addition to any other restrictions due to buffer days or individual asset availability. It does not guarantee the user will be able to choose any day up to the “Max Days Out” limit.
