Did You Know the Order Intercept tool can be used to create automations that run actions on orders based on filters?

Order Intercept is a new back-end tool that enables the creation of targeted order management automation workflows.

You can define certain conditions, such as orders that include a specific SKU, and certain actions, such as updating custom fields, and Order Intercept will automatically capture orders that meet those conditions and run those actions against them.

Order Intercept can capture orders based on three types of filters:

  1. Parts in the Order
  2. Order Address
  3. Carrier

Order Intercept can run two types of actions against intercepted orders:

  1. Update Custom Fields
  2. Add Part to Order

In other words, based on either the parts in an order, the address, or the carrier, you can automatically intercept orders and either change the custom field information or add a defined quantity of a certain part to orders that meet those conditions.

The Order Intercept tool can be configured with as many rules as needed and each rule can be given multiple actions.

Benefits to You

  • Automate order alteration actions to incoming orders based on custom filters and rules.
  • Update custom field information or add a SKU to all orders captured by the Order Interceptor tool.
  • Capture orders based on either the parts in the order, order address, or the carrier.

How It Works

To use the Order Intercept tool:

  1. In the back-end, go to Portals / Select a Customer / Intercept Orders. (See below for location of menu item)
  2. Click Add Rule.
  3. Use the Intercept Type dropdown to choose what type of filter to use.
    1. Part – Intercept orders based on the parts in orders.
    2. Carrier – Intercept orders based on the carrier.
    3. Order Address – Intercept orders based on the shipping address.
  4. Use the Intercept Based On dropdown to determine what information the filter looks at. For example, when using the Part as the Intercept Type, you can filter for orders based on SKU or based on the part name.
  5. Use the Conditional dropdown to determine the behavior of the filter.
    1. Using the conditional “=” will filter only orders that meet the exact conditions of the rule. For example, if filtering by part name, only orders with the exact name defined in the filter will be intercepted.
    2. Using the conditional “Like” will intercept all orders that include the value specified.
  6. Click Add Action underneath the rule to define an action to be performed on orders intercepted based on this rule.
  7. You can add as many rules as needed to the Order Intercept tool.
  8. You can define multiple actions per rule.
  9. Click Save Configuration when finished adding rules and actions.
  10. Toggle the switch at the top of the Order Intercept page to “On” to turn on the Order Intercept tool. The tool will then start capturing and processing orders based on your configuration.
