Did You Know you can create DAM roles to control user permissions for digital assets?
Front end admins can create roles and assign them to users and user groups to control how users can interact with digital assets. Digital assets are grouped in folders. Admins can define permissions for each digital asset folder.
These permissions are: View, Download, Upload, Edit, and Delete.
For example, you can create a role called Creative Users, then give that role permission to view, download, upload, and edit assets in the Marketing Creative folder, but not permission to delete assets.
Benefits to The Customer
- Granular user permissions control for the digital asset module.
- Assign roles to individual users or entire user groups.
- Turn on the Sys Admin option for a role to give the assigned users all permissions across all digital assets.
How It Works
Users with front end admin access can create and assign digital asset roles. To do so:
- On the front end, go to Admin / Digital Asset / Roles.
- Click Add Role.
- Give the role a name and click Create Role. Note, you can switch Sys Admin to “On” to give users in this role unrestricted digital asset permissions. This setting can be changed at any time by clicking the pencil icon next to the role.
- Use the User Group and Users columns to assign users to the role.
Next, to define the permissions for each role:
- Go to Admin / Digital Asset / Access Group Details.
- Here you will see all the digital asset folders currently on portal.
- Click a folder.
- In the Permission section each role will be listed along with permission types.
- The red “X” icon means that role does not have that permission.
- Clicking the “X” will change it to a “Check” and vice versa.
- After defining permissions for the roles, click Save Access Group.
