Did You Know you can add tool tips to any customizable text on a portal with Screen Definitions?

Screen Definitions allow you to customize text throughout the portal. You can tailor the names of various labels, menus, and descriptive text to each customer. We’ve added a new function in the Screen Definitions feature: Screen Definition tool tips.

Now, you can add tool tips to any text in the portal that can be customized with Screen Definitions. Tool tips are small question mark icons next to portal elements that users can hover their cursor over to see explanatory text about that element, be it a menu item, input field, or label.

Benefits to the Customer

  • Add tool tips to explain customized text throughout the portal.
  • Users can get quick explanations of options, menu items, and other portal elements by hovering over custom tool tips.

How It Works

Adding tool tips to Screen Definitions is done in the Screen Definitions file.

  1. Go to System / Site / Screen Definitions
  2. Download the Screen Definitions file.
  3. Open the file and use the Tool Tip column to add tool tip text to a Screen Definition element.
  4. Change the value in the Tool Tip Enabled column from “N” to “Y” to enable this tool tip.
