Did You Know you can customize text like labels and menus on portals?
Screen Definitions are one of the tools you have to customize the look and feel of your portals. You can tailor the names of various labels, menus, and descriptive text throughout the portal to each client.
Changing Screen Definitions is as simple as downloading the master list of labels, changing the values to what you want, and uploading the list. You can create multiple Screen Definitions and assign them on the customer and user group level.
Benefits to the Client
- Change messaging on your portal to be brand-specific (i.e. “YourCompany Bucks” instead of “Co-op Dollars”)
- Create different language versions of your portal.
- Change labels, menus and descriptive text throughout the portal to customize the look and feel of the portal.
How It Works
Access and change portal Screen Definitions by going to System / Site / Screen Definitions.
- Under the section “Front-End Screen Definitions” you’ll see two buttons, Download Definitions and Upload Definitions.
- Click Download Definitions to get a .CSV file with all of the portal screen definitions.
- In the file, use the VALUE column to change screen definitions. Do not alter any of the other columns.
- Upload the updated Screen Definitions file using the Upload Definitions button.
- You’ll be able to give this Screen Definitions list a name and specify a language and currency.
To assign Screen Definitions to a customer:
- Go to Portals / Select Customer
- Find the “Front-End Screen Definition” option and choose a Screen Definition from the dropdown.
- Note: the customer-level Screen Definition selected will be the default option for all new user groups created.
To assign Screen Definitions to a user group
- Go to the user group’s details page: Portals / Select Customer / User Groups / Select User Group
- Find the “Front-End Screen Definition” option and choose a Screen Definition from the dropdown.
- Note: You can give users the option to switch between multiple Screen Definitions using Dynamic User Groups. More about that here: Dynamic User Groups
