Did You Know you can allow orders to be partially shipped?
Partial shipping gives customers flexibility over when their orders are shipped out. Users can receive part of an order when inventory is available for any order lines even if other order lines are not ready. Once the partial shipment has been processed then the order will be set to Backorder status and will be shipped once the inventory is available.
Partial shipping can be turned on as a customer-level setting, meaning orders can be partially shipped by default. If that setting is not turned on, one-off orders can still be manually set to allow partial shipping.
Benefits to the Client
- Ship out large orders before all items are produced.
- Let users receive orders with items in backorder status.
- Allow orders to be partially shipped by default or only on specific orders.
How It Works
To allow orders for a customer to be partially shipped by default. Go to the customer’s page in the back end and navigate to the Settings page. Portals > Select Customer > Settings. Find the setting called “Allow Split Shipping” in the Warehouse & Shipping Settings section and set it to “Yes”.
If the customer-level Split Shipping option is not turned on, you can still set a specific order to allow partial shipping. Go to the order’s page. Orders > Search > Select Order. The “Allow Partial Shipment” option is in the top bar. To allow an order to be partially shipped, the order must be approved and not yet picked.
