Did You Know part level settings can be used to change backorder functionality?
This is a quick round up of two recently added part level settings in the back end. Both of these settings alter how a part deals with backorders. These new settings are:
Show Backorder Alert: When this is set to “Yes” then the system show a red “Backordered” label in the cart details of a part when the quantity in the cart is more than what the warehouse has on hand.
Allow Negative Demand: When set to “No” users won’t be able to checkout with a quantity of a part greater than what is currently on hand. When set to “Yes” users can order a greater quantity of a part than is on hand and the part will be placed on a backorder status.
Benefits to You
- Control how parts deal with attempted orders greater than the quantity on hand on a part level
- Alert users when the items in their cart will push a part into a backorder status
- Prevent users from ordering more of a part than what the warehouse has on hand
How It Works
The Show Backorder Alert and Allow Negative Demand settings can be found on details page of a part in the back end. Both settings are in the Basic Settings section at the bottom of the righthand column.
