Did You Know: Front End Calendar

calendar web to print marketing portal

Propago’s Calendar is a front end feature that enables users to schedule events and see upcoming events at a glance. Calendar layers can be used to separate events into categories and control what categories different users see.

Features of the front end calendar include:

  • Ability to view the calendar by Day, Week, or Month
  • Agenda view and timeline view give focused views of events within a time frame
  • Create layers and assign layers to user groups to control who sees which events
  • Download current view of the calendar as a PDF
  • Create single or reoccurring events
  • Edit series of reoccurring events or single occurrences
  • Ability to set the calendar as the default landing page for a portal (portal-wide or by user group)

The front end calendar is a handy way for your clients and users to keep track of relevant events without leaving the portal.

Benefits to the Client

  • Create and see upcoming one-time and recurring events right on the portal
  • Create calendar layers to easily control which users see what events
  • Use different view modes to keep track of what events are coming up today, this week, or this month
  • Download calendar snapshots for offline use or to send to others

How It Works

On the back end, you can turn off and on the calendar feature for individual portals by going to the Settings section within a customer’s detail page. The Calendar option is under the User Experience section.

Within the Access Rights section of a user’s details page, the Calendar Admin option can be used to give that user the ability to add or edit layers and events on the calendar.

To set the calendar as the default landing page for a portal, go to that portal’s Customer Details page. Go to Settings, find the Landing Page Defaults setting, and choose Calendar in the dropdown. You can do the same for a specific user group instead by going to User Groups > Settings and changing the Landing Page Defaults setting.

On the front end, the calendar can be found under Tools. The dropdown bar above the calendar is used to select which layers to view. Layers can be added using the Add Layers button. The button next Add Layers will export the current view of the calendar as a PDF. Double-click into a section on the calendar to add an event. New events must be assigned at least one layer. Double-click an event to edit its details. If it is a reoccurring event you will be given the option to edit the occurrence that was selected or the entire series.
